The Three Most Common Types of HD Tvs

As things are looking in the world of home entertainment the end of high definition is nowhere near. In fact, we can expect HD to be around for the next ten to twenty years. It doesn’t matter if you are avoiding changing your conventional television for a new HDTV set eventually there will come a time where you old TV will stop working and you will be forced to buy one of these amazing televisions because the market for conventional TVs is dying slowly but steadily For this reason you should at least know some of the basic differences among screen types so that when the time comes that you have to venture into your nearest store to buy a TV you have an idea about what you are buying. The three type of screens that are the most popular at the moment are LCD, Plasma and DLP.

Plasma sets produce the best picture in terms of contrast, solidness and warm colors. They picture is not as prone to many unwanted artifacts that are common with other types of panels but are prone to image burn. However this technology has improved a lot and newer products are not as susceptible to image burn. They are usually very power hungry so if you buy a big screen expect a higher power bill.

HDTVs with LCD screens are very good. LCD has become the display panel of choice for many reasons. These include a lower power consumption, lighter and slimmer units that can easily be mounted unto walls, less screen reflections than Plasma and less image burn problems. However, while there are some models that have decent contrast ratios, cheaper products usually have low contrast ratios and slow refresh rates which introduce many unwanted artifacts. For these reasons consumer are advised to be very careful when they pick a budget product.

If size are your thing then a DLP television might do the trick for you. They are usually huge and cheap but the picture quality is not as good as the others. Many of them are heavy and bulky but there are some that are relatively slim. If you are interested in one you should try to ask someone that has a television with a DLP screen to let you watch a movie or anything first because there are some people that have reported feeling dizzy after using a product that uses this type of screen.

As you can see every screen type is good in some way and bad in another. There is no such thing as a perfect Tv. It all depends on what you are looking for and you personal budget. You should always inform yourself a little before you go out to buy things that are costly like HD Tvs to avoid spending on something that you won’t like at the end of the day. Always shop smart and take a moment to think before you buy anything.
