Modern Design: From Garage Ceiling to Garage Floor.
The garage may not be the most used room in the house, but it certainly takes the most abuse. It is the room where the motor vehicles are kept, but it can be used for much more than that. It can be an office where a do-it-yourself mechanic repairs a tire or changes the oil. It can serve as a workshop that houses lumber, paint, and woodworking tools for any number of side projects. A garage has to be durable enough to take the abuse that comes with hard work or it will not last long. The garage floor is especially susceptible to damage and decay from water and harsh abrasives.
The garage is first and foremost the hub that protects the family vehicle and is built mainly for that reason. However, today’s modern garage is built with modern designs that accommodate the do-it-yourself homeowner’s needs. Durable workbenches and cabinets can line the walls and provide resilient storage space for sensitive work equipment. Wall-mounted shelves can also be installed to provide more storage. Fluorescent lighting provides the best possible illumination under which to work. If the garage has enough space, it can be divided to make an extra room, providing living space for the dog or something to that effect.
Garage flooring is the most important facet of modern design. It needs to protect the floor for as long as the occupants live in that house. There are many strong tiles and mats available that have practical designs. They are made of durable materials, like vinyl. Ribbed mats channel water away from the garage while looking pleasing to the eye. Floor mats with diamond patterns provide friction to prevent slipping while making the garage look rugged. In general, garages need to be strong enough to take abuse while protecting the people inside. Of course, it has to protect the car too.
